| Access Statement for Linden Lodge 2008 |
Linden Lodge is a family run Guesthouse comprising two Victorian Town Houses located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the city centre. The accommodation consists of 13 rooms mostly en-suite, and of which two rooms are located at ground floor level.
- A full description and image library is available on the Linden Lodge web-site at www.lindelodgehotel.co.uk. The web-site is a single size site and written in a style consistent with the hotel livery and other Linden Lodge stationary.
- Accommodation can be booked by telephone, fax or email - full details are to be found on the web-site or by calling the hotel direct line 01904 620107.
- Linden Lodge is a short 10-12 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) from the main central train station and the city walls, Micklegate Bar and the local bars, restaurants and shops. Taxis for wheel-chair access can be booked from the train station and Visitor Information Centre and the hotel is approximately 15 minutes walk from the main coach station.
- There is no collection service provided by the hotel for guests
- Two ground floor rooms are suitable for guests with visual impairments and limited mobility, but details and availability must be checked with the hotel in advance.
| Arrival & Car Parking Facilities |
- Parking at the hotel is provided by means of on-street parking. Permits are provided by the hotel on arrival for the duration of the stay. A small charge of £2 per day is levied for this facility.
- The hotel is located in a cul-de-sac, where ample parking spaces are available on most occasions. In particularly busy periods, parking can also be found in adjoining streets and are covered with the same permits.
- While there is no facility to reserve spaces in the bays provided for parking, every effort will be made to accommodate guests arriving by car with mobility difficulties and this should be discussed with the hotel in advance.
- Guests who require assistance should contact to hotel on arrival and staff will be available to help. A dropped curb from Nunthorpe Ave, can be found to the left hand side of the hotel main entrance, which provides access to the front door.
- Access to the hotel is via the street lamp illuminated pavement and a short entrance walk-way. A clearly visible and illuminated door bell is located at shoulder level which should be rung to announce arrivals.

- Access to the hotel can only be via the main front door, a standard Victorian-style hinged, wooden door.
- Entrance to reception is accessed via a single door step into the hotel lobby
- Guests are welcomed at the front door and signed in at the main bar area (where seating is available) located just inside the main lounge.
- Guests will be provided keys to all access doors and their own room and will be escorted to their room where any health and safety information will be given. Additional keys can be provided upon request on arrival at the hotel. Where possible all details of York's surrounding facilities and tourist attractions will be provided on arrival, including times of meals and check-outs.
- Check-in times are from 11.00am to 1.30pm and again from 4.30pm to 10.30pm. Reception is closed to check-ins from 1.30pm to 4.30pm daily. Access to the hotel will not be possible during this period.
- It is the hotels standard practice to enquire as to an estimated time of arrival when bookings are made directly with the hotel. For web-bookings details of these times are provided for check-ins.
- Late arrival guests can access their room keys and welcome instructions via the small key-safe located by the front door.
- Should guests require the services of a guide-dog, these can be accommodated but this should be notified in advance of arrival.
- Reception, dining rooms, bar and ground floor bedrooms are all on the same level.

- The hotel has two main staircases allowing access to the first and second floors. Access to the first floor is via either of the two stair cases (approximately 19 steps) and half-landing. Access to the second floor is via the continuation of the stair case (approximately a further 15 steps) and the landing. Wooden polished hand-rails run the entire length of the stairwells.
- There are no lifts or escalators in the hotel to access the first or second floors.
- All floors and bedrooms are carpeted throughout. Bathroom floors are linoleum or tiled floors
- There is no public telephone in the hotel but taxis and restaurant bookings can be arranged via the hotel staff
- Lighting is provided in all common areas via the main central lights and standard lamps. Emergency lighting is provided throughout the common areas and main corridors.
- Fire exits are clearly marked with illuminated signs
- Public toilets are located on the first and second floor landings only. There is no facility for disabled toilets.
- A public toilet facility is available on the first floor but this is not suitable for individuals with mobility or visual impairments.

- The dining room is situated on the ground floor next to reception. Various size tables are available, chairs are standard height without arms. Breakfast is waitress service and staff will explain the breakfast menu and serve guests.
- The crockery used provides contrast with he table surfaces.
- Allergies/intolerances are catered for as long as these are specified in advance.
- Evening meals are not provided but staff can help with table reservations at local establishments.
There is no laundry or self-catering facilities available for guests at the hotel. Shops and cash-points can be found locally within 5 minutes walk. Indoor and outdoor facilities, leisure centres and other attractions are but a short distance away and details can be discussed with hotel staff on arrival.
There are no conference & meeting rooms, banqueting, clubs and entertainment facilities at the hotel.
- Two bedrooms suitable for guests with visual or mobility impairment are located on the ground floor. One room is a twin facility whilst the other is a double, both are ensuite however one does require guests to step into the shower. Door widths are standard, both rooms are carpeted.
- Within the rooms are tea and coffee making facilities (kettles are corded). Televisions are provided with teletext and standard alarm clocks with audible wake up system.
- Emergency procedures will be discussed as part of the welcome/familiarisation talk. Fire alarms are a bell system. Staff who are made aware of guests hearing impairment will ensure guests are aware of the alarm sounding and will assist with egress where it is safe to do so.
- Lighting in the rooms is via a central ceiling light, wall lights and bedside lamps.
- Food is not served in the rooms but guests will be helped to the dining area for breakfast if this is required. Most dietary requirements can be catered for but advance notification of these should be made with the hotel in advance
- The hotel is pet free but guide dogs can be accommodated.

- The twin ground floor ensuite consists of a basin, wc and shower. The room is a tiled floor with a small (approximately 3cm step down into the walk-in shower cubicle). Available free floor space is 60x90cm.
- The double ground floor ensuite consists of a basin, WC and shower which has to be stepped up into. The floor is laminate with little free floor space.
- Neither ensuite has special fire alarms, emergency pulls, hoists rails or specific furniture to convert the facilities to suit specific access issues.
- Both ensuites are separated from the main bedroom area by a single leaf standard width door.
- Staff are available at all times via a bell system adjacent to the ground floor bar.
- Medicines or special dietary foods can be refrigerated if needed - please notify staff on arrival
The hotel is a public area and is therefore a NO SMOKING establishment. However, a small rear garden area is available for smoking and guests can access this via the bar area patio doors. There is room for wheelchairs outside of these doors but care must be taken as a series of steeper further steps lead down to the patio.
